My name is Michele Rager, and I have been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist for eleven years. They say that time flies when you’re having fun, and eleven years have gone by in a flash!
My passion for food and nutrition started in elementary school, when I thought it might be fun to bake cakes and cookies for competition at the county fair. Growing up in western PA, my parents encouraged my love of food in many ways, but it wasn’t until I landed at Penn State that my transformation into a full-blown foodie really began. In college, I was not only exposed to a variety of new foods and cooking skills but also coursework to explain the science behind so many nutrition recommendations.
During my career thus far, I’ve been privileged to work in food product development, providing nutrition care to patients in hospitals and to long-term care residents, and more recently, working with Case Specific Nutrition to provide individualized counseling, grocery store tours, cooking classes and pantry overhauls. I also love to speak to community and corporate groups on a variety of nutrition-related topics.
My personal goal is to work with you to provide individualized recommendations and encouraging, innovative education that will give you confidence to make meaningful and lasting changes on your way to better health. Success means finding solutions that will work for you and that will stick.
Other things you might like to know about me: I am proud to have graduated from Penn State with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management. I am credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, licensed in the state of Pennsylvania, and also certified in nutrition support. I’m involved in my profession in a number of other ways, writing articles and appearing in radio and television interviews when the occasion calls for it. I also currently serve as President of the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
